A Successful Holiday Concert
A Successful Holiday Concert
To The Editor:
The Newtown Choral Society played to a crowded house when they presented their holiday concert, Conrad Susaâs Lullabies and Carols Sunday at The Meeting House as part of the Holiday House Tour.
We would not have enjoyed such success without the help of many people. Most importantly, the members would like to thank the choirâs director, Mary Andreotta. Her ability to introduce new, challenging music, as well as older, more comfortable pieces, added to the joy of the program. Todd Gorski, our accompanist, also played a big part in our success. His professionalism, his ability, and his good humor all contributed to a dynamic season of rehearsals and a terrific concert.
We thank Sherry Paisley and The Heritage Preservation Trust of Newtown, Inc, for preserving such a music friendly venue.
We would also like to thank Shannon Hicks and The Newtown Bee and Sybil Blau and the News-Times for their support.
Because the choir is a community, we enjoy the help and support of former members as well as membersâ spouses and children. Thanks goes to Dr Kevin Braun and Stephen Dworkin, our ticket takers. Michael Corbeil and Stephen Dworkin helped move our musical equipment, as did former member John Berger.
We also thank Miracle Graphics of Bethel, for its tremendous contribution in designing and printing our program. As a nice coincidence, Miracle Graphics is owned by Sara Gallo, a Newtown High School graduate.
Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth. As usual, Kenneth lent his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle wherever it was needed.
The Newtown Choral Society, which is beginning its 21st year, will begin rehearsals for its spring concert in early January. Under the direction of Mary Andreotta, we welcome new members and require only that new members have a love of singing and a willingness to learn. Call me at 426-3769 if you would like to discuss joining the Newtown Choral Society.
