A Glimpse Into The Realm Of Spiritual Readings And Psychic Mediums
Most people rely on the standard five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch to understand the world around them.
Some navigate through the physical world with extra insight by tapping into intangible intuition.
Barbara Pinder falls in the latter category and has been doing psychic-medium spiritual readings for more than 25 years. She currently works out of River’s Edge Healing Center in Sandy Hook and offers remote sessions with individuals over the phone.
The term “psychic” and “medium” tend to be used interchangeably, but Pinder defines them as separate entities.
“A psychic is a person with the ability to perceive and be affected by non-physical (spiritual) energy and although everyone has this ability, a psychic develops an acute sensitivity to these energies,” Pinder explained. “A medium is a spiritually sensitive person who uses psychic ability to see, hear, feel, or simply sense spirits who choose to be perceived.”
In her practice, she harnesses both skills and says she focuses on using the guiding energy of light and love for all her spiritual readings.
“The intention of my readings is to bring awareness of what is going on in your life spiritually and to bring insight to current energies that surround you. Through this awareness, guidance and direction is offered for choices you make in shaping your future,” Pinder said.
Pursuing This Path
Pinder’s approach comes from her belief that we live in a world of duality, where we are eternal spiritual beings experiencing a temporary physical existence.
“Our mind can either be guided by the ‘static’ energy of past references of our ego thoughts or by the ‘clarity’ energy of the present moment of our spirit thoughts,” Pinder said.
She finds that all people have the ability to remove the static and develop what she calls “Divine Communication with or through our Higher Soul Self.”
“I always wondered about Divine Communication in one form or another, but the curiosity and desire to truly understand this communication came after my husband’s death in 1988,” Pinder said.
She describes her husband, Allan, as her heart, soul, and one true love, who ultimately was the driving influence for her to pursue the path she is on today.
After his death, when her children were 8 and 6 years of age, Pinder says she began receiving “messages.”
She wanted to understand what the messages meant for her and her children, so she began researching mediumship and spirit communication.
Through taking classes and meeting impactful teachers, Pinder decided to study cartomancy, which according to Merriam-Webster, is “fortune-telling by means of playing cards.”
During this time, Tex Ritter’s song, “Deck of Cards” was particularly inspiring to her because its lyrics reference the symbolism of each card. An excerpt from the song is:
“You see, sir,
When I look at the ace in my deck of cards,
It reminds me that there is but one God.
The deuce tells me that Bible is divided into
Two parts, the Old and the New Testaments.
When I see the trey, I think of Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
And when I look at the four,
I think of the four great evangelists who preached the gospel.
There were Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.”
Today, Pinder uses a regular deck of playing cards for her spiritual readings as a tool for understanding the messages coming through.
She has also broadened her expertise by studying reiki and became a reiki master.
“All of this led me to the study of A Course in Miracles and eventually to the classes I teach, titled ‘Miracles, Mystics, Mediumship, and Manifestation,’ all of which are based on the teachings of A Course in Miracles,” Pinder said.
The Christmas message of A Course in Miracles, Pinder shared, explains that “The sign of Christmas is a star, a light in darkness — see it not outside yourself, but shining in the Heaven within.”
Ultimately, it has been through her transcendent love with her husband, in life and even after his death more than 30 years ago, that Pinder continues to pursue this path of psychic medium work doing spiritual readings. Their unbreakable relationship is also what continues to motivate her to help others on their journeys.
“I believe that we are co-creators with and extensions of God’s love and light — or of that which created us. I believe the vows of a single relationship or the vows of the united relationship of all of creation is one in the same,” Pinder said. “Through Al, I experienced — and experience still — the energy of Love Eternal!”
Currently, all of Barbara Pinder’s classes are being done through Zoom and readings can be done over the phone. For more information about Barbara Pinder and her spiritual readings, call/text 203-848-4748 or visit her website at myinnerdragonfly.com.
