Holiday Weekend Event: Garden Club Of Newtown Welcome Eager Shoppers At Holiday Greens & Gifts Sale
The natural fragrance of fresh evergreens filled The Meeting House during the Garden Club of Newtown’s annual Holiday Greens & Gift Sale on December 1.
With a group of eager shoppers lining out the door, the club members let the fundraiser begin ten minutes earlier than scheduled to the delight of those waiting.
“Thank you all for being so early and so gracious,” Garden Club of Newtown President Peggy Townsend said to the community members awaiting in anticipation for the go-ahead.
Once inside, guests were able to buy from a wide selection of handmade holiday items that were assembled and decorated by club members.
There were dozens of wreaths and door swags made from local evergreens that were hung down the aisles, as well as an assortment of one and two-tier topiaries, ornaments, kissing balls, yard decorations, wooden snowmen, and birdhouses.
Local resident and author Nora Murphy was the Holiday Greens & Gifts Sale’s special guest of the morning. She spoke with attendees and signed copies of her new release Nora Murphy’s Country House Style.
