Third Annual Kent Film Festival To Be Held In March; Organizers Calling For Entries

KENT — Frank and Patrice Galterio, founders and organizers of the Kent Film Festival, have announced that their third annual event will be mounted in Kent on Thursday, March 27, through Sunday, March 30, 2008.

Most of the films will be shown at the Kent Community House, with other nearby locations to be announced for individual categories and workshops at various times throughout the festival.

Filmmakers are encouraged to send in their works for consideration to the 2008 Kent Film Festival. Entries must be postmarked by January 15 in order to be considered for the 2008 event. Check the website KentFilmFestival.org for full details.

Campbell Scott, actor, director and producer (Music and Lyrics, Off the Map and Roger Dodger), has joined this year as an advisory board member, and Lynn Redgrave is on the board this year as well.

The organizers promise that the four days will be full of stimulating and thought-provoking films, workshops and Q&A sessions.  New for 2008 will be a gala event with special guests and awards. Local shopkeepers, inns and restaurants will continue to support the festivities which attract a diverse movie loving audience.

“We were thrilled with the turnout for our last event and based on an early response, we believe that fans will feel that we will have delivered even more with the 2008 festival,” said Mr Galterio.

Some highlights of the 2007 festival included:

*when Kent resident and actress Lynn Redgrave screened her film, The Annihilation of Fish, followed by a Q&A to a sold out house. Campbell Scott also screened his amazing film, Off the Map, also followed by a very animated and exciting Q&A;

*a special screening of The Man in the Chair, directed by Michael Schroeder, starring Connecticut resident and actor Christopher Plummer. The film made its East Coast premiere at the Kent Film Festival and won Best Feature;

*a workshop on cinematography led by the award-winning Julio Macat; and

*when film and TV actress Elizabeth Perkins held a free acting workshop for local high school drama students and Peter Miner, Adjunct Professor, Columbia University Graduate Film School, held a “Working with Actors” workshop.

Filmmakers and the public are encouraged to check the festival’s website, KentFilmFestival, for updates and schedules.
