Mary I. (Kurimsky) Hunyadi, 96, of Trumbull, died December 4 in St Joseph Manor. She was the widow of Elmer F. Hunyadi. Born in Bridgeport to Stephen and Mary Molcan Kurimsky, she was a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by her beloved children, Theodore J. Hunyadi and his wife, Catherine, of Sandy Hook, Matthew J. Hunyadi and his wife, Dorothy, of Huntington, and Mary Hammer and her husband, Christopher, of Trumbull, with whom she resided; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Deborah Hunyadi, Nancy and Mark Olney, John and Eileen Hunyadi, James and Lynn Hunyadi, Theodore Hunyadi, Laura and Darrell Baldwin, Elaine Hunyadi, and Sarah Hammer; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Bede and Philomena Hunyadi; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Stephen, Henry, and George Kurimsky.
Mrs Hunyadi was retired from the City of Bridgeport, where she managed the cafeterias of Central, Harding, and Bassick High Schools.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, December 7, at 9:45 am, in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 am in St Catherine of Siena Church, Shelton Road, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Michael Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, December 6, from 3 to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mrs Hunyadiâs memory to Connecticut Childrenâs Center Foundation, Inc, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford CT 06106; or a childrenâs charity of oneâs choice.
