AmeriCares Seeks HomeFront Projects

NEW CANAAN — AmeriCares HomeFront is in search of Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y. homeowners whose financial or physical condition prevents them from making necessary repairs to their homes.

HomeFront helps low income, elderly, disabled or single parent homeowners by repairing their homes to keep them safe, warm and dry.  Referrals are welcome from neighbors, social service agencies, religious organizations or city officials.  Each year 9,000 volunteers work in 66 communities to repair 150 homes and 30 community facilities for neighbors in need.

The application deadline is Friday, December 17 for homes, which will be repaired next spring.

Since 1988, HomeFront has revitalized nearly 1,400 projects, providing nearly $18.5 million worth of home improvement value.  Each year, HomeFront is supported by donations from building material manufacturers as well as assistance from 9,000 volunteers, including skilled professionals, local businesses and teams sponsored by companies, civic, church and educational organizations.
