Louisa Tolla, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at her home.

Born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., a daughter of Douglas Gene Ruffles and Mary Agnes Wray Ruffles. Louisa was deeply religious and an active member of The Catholic Church of St James in Conway, S.C. Her family was her world, especially her granddaughter Rose, who was her pride and joy. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, and her mac and cheese was world famous. Beautiful Louisa, as she was referred to often, loved animals, her comfy clothes, and her many slippers.

Louisa was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Tolla, in November of 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Patti (Mike) Levy of Hamden; son, Mike McCarthy of Stratford; siblings, Linda Cummins, Laura Fraser, Terri Kolwicz, Mary English, Douglas Ruffles, Dymphna Correia, Anastasia Kennedy, Loann Barrows, and Phuong Ruffles; many nieces, nephews, and many friends; and her loyal companion, her dog Isabella.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Catholic Church of St Rose in Newtown, Friday, December 13, 2019, at 10:30 am. A reception will be held at Hawleyville Fire Department immediately after.
