*The third annual WXCI Can Oâ Christmas Party will take place next week at Colorado Brewery in Danbury. WestConnâs student radio station is presenting the concert, which will be open to all ages. Admission is $5 if you show up with a canned good to donate, $10 without. All proceeds from the show are going to The Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury.
Newtown singer, songwriter and guitarist KIM LEAMAN has opening duties Thursday night, which means sheâll be starting the show around 8:30. Leaman is the lead singer and head songwriter for the Danbury-area band PARTING GIFT, but this is going to be a solo opportunity for her.
RAHZEL, of THE ROOTS, a/k/a the âGodfather of Noize,â headlines this yearâs show, which will also feature performances by THE ELECTRIC PIMPS, BIG TOP PLOW and DJ DSL. Doors open at 7:30 and the show will run to 1 am.
*Toadâs Place has added two all ages shows to its January calendar. The first event is a return of 2 SKINNEE JâS to the New Haven club on Friday, January 19. A week later another return, this time with MAX CREEK.
*All four members of the Newtown-based OFF THE HOOK will be on stage Friday night at Sky Box Café in Fairfield. Guitarist Lee Weissman, bassist Steve Clark, percussionist Abu and guitarist and vocalist Joe Proc will be startingup around 10 am at the club, formerly Larkinâs, at 1494 Post Road (near the community theatre, on the second floor). The guys have one more show this month as a full band â next Friday at Hot Shots II in Newtown â and Proc will be playing the remainder of the calendar on his own. Proc has acoustic shows scheduled for December 9 at Putnam House in Bethel, December 16 at San Miguelâs in Bethel, and December 22 at Carl Anthonyâs in Monroe.
