NEW YORK, New York - Miss Dorothy M. MacDonald of Carmel Valley, California heads the list of judges for the 125th Westminster Kennel Club dog show slated for Monday and Tuesday, February 12 and 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

NEW YORK, New York – Miss Dorothy M. MacDonald of Carmel Valley, California heads the list of judges for the 125th Westminster Kennel Club dog show slated for Monday and Tuesday, February 12 and 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Miss Macdonald has been involved in dogs all of her life. While growing up in England, her family had Welsh, Sealyham and Wire Fox Terriers plus a few Golden Retrievers. For many years she was associated with her mother in raising and showing Yorkshire Terriers. Miss Macdonald is best known for her long involvement with the Brittany in the field as well as on the bench. She has written and lectured on the Brittany extensively over the years and has judged at Conformation Shows as well as Field Trials since the early 1970’s. She is currently approved to judge the Sporting, Hound and Terrier Groups.

Competition will be offered for two new breeds this year. The Spinone Italiano in the Sporting Group and the Jack Russell Terrier in the Terrier Group.

Judges for each of the seven Variety Groups will be: Sporting - Mr. Ralph N. Del Deo of Bedminster, NJ. Hound - Mr. Kent Delaney of Orland Park, IL. Working - Dr. Klaus Anselm of Beulah, CO. Terrier - Mrs. Sandra Goose Allen of Madeira Beach, FL. Toy - Mrs. Helen Lee James of Littleton, CO. Non-Sporting - Mr. John Lyons of Pleasant Valley, NY and Herding - Mrs. Kathleen Steen of Alpharetta, GA.

Judges for the 158 breeds and varieties eligible for competition in the year 2001 show are as follows:

Sporting Group (27): Mrs Beth H. Elliott B. Weiss and Mrs Charlotte P. Patterson will judge the Junior Showmanship preliminaries. Miss Maxine V. Beam will judge the finals.

 

Ticket Information

If tickets are still available, general admission is $35 (good for one entrance only, either day) with children under 12 years of age admitted for $21. Season tickets (which bear the privilege of entering and leaving the building at all times during the two days) ate $55. Box seat tickets (good for both days, as well as for reserved seat) are $85. Ringside seats for the finals (Tuesday only) are $55.
