To The Editor:

We are opposed to Application 24.16 by Vessel Technologies Inc for the construction of two four-story multi-family residential buildings which would be located at 4 Berkshire Road and 22 Oakview Road. They would consist of 136 rental apartments, parking lots and driveways.

There are numerous issues of concern with this proposal.

We are addressing one that we feel should be very important to our Newtown Community.

The “affordable” income development will be built adjacent to Newtown High School. We hope that all parents, present and future, have been made aware of this proposal and have had the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns. There must be other sites that are not next to a school.

Also, have surrounding municipalities been consulted to learn any issues they have had to deal with regarding the introduction of such apartment complexes into their communities?

We encourage everyone who would like to find out more information about this project or voice their concerns to attend the P&Z meeting on December 5th, 7 pm in the Newtown Municipal Building at Fairfield Hills.
