To the Editor:

FAITH Food Pantry is a 100 percent faith-based volunteer organization and receives no food or funding from government agencies - a grass roots community effort for sure. FAITH relies on cash donations, food donations, and food drives from the people of Newtown.

The crown jewel of all food drives is the Firefighters Thanksgiving Food Drive. For the 16th consecutive year, this year's drive was a huge success. Karin Halstead and her fellow firefighters should be applauded as they delivered over 50 turkeys, 150 boxes of food, and nearly $2,000 in cash and gift cards. Once again, My Place fed the volunteers lunch.

As many of you know, FAITH had to find a temporary home until we build a new permanent building (location to be announced soon). The owners of the manufacturing company Tier One stepped up. They gave us a standalone building to use… rent free.

Newtown is truly a unique and wonderful place to live.
