Holiday Concert Will Be First For New Director
Emmy nominated composer John Mucci will lead Newtown Choral Society on Sunday, December 7, at 4 pm, when the choir presents its holiday concert at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The accompanist will be Anna M. DeMasi.
Joseph Reinbergerâs Der Stern von Bethlehem (The Star of Bethleham) will be the choirâs main piece. Composed in the 19th Century, the cantata features soprano, tenor and baritone solos as well as a flute accompanist.
Also on the program will be songs of celebration from France, England, Serbia, Italy, Africa, Denmark and The United States.
The concert will mark the first for the choral society under its new director, who assumed his new post in September. Mr Mucci is an accomplished composer from Wilton with two Emmy nominations and who has served on the board of directors for several choral groups in Stamford and New York City. He has agreed to direct the organization for the 2008-09 season.
Tickets for the concert are $9, $7 for students and seniors, and will be available at the door. Call 426-3769 for more information.
