Fraser Woods Montessori School students and educators gathered together on Wednesday, November 25, for the school’s annual assembly to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Head of School Myriam Woods welcomed all in attendance and explained the assembly would include students sharing the history of Thanksgiving, a student performance of Stone Soup with humanities teacher and dean of the Middle School Wendy Musk acting as narrator, and students sharing what they are thankful for this year.

The day before the assembly eighth grade students worked to bake bread for the event. The bread was cut and offered on a table for the entire school community to share at the end of the assembly. The students made a range of bread options, including cranberry wheat, white, honey cornbread, and lemon poppy.

The assembly also included students reading a Native American poem, “The Four Elements.”

For the performance of Stone Soup, students portrayed a small group of travelers that came to a village and shared the recipe for a soup that included a stone and each member of the village sharing ingredients for the soup. Students at the school stood up to add their cabbage, carrots, or onions to the pot.

Things the students shared that they are thankful for included “the world,” “this school,” “what’s inside of me,” “friends and family,”“ and “each day.”

Ms Woods shared the school’s educators are thankful for the students, the school, and for the joy the students bring to their lives daily.

Fraser Woods Montessori School Head of School Myriam Woods helped students William Juel, 5, and Delia Stango, 4, read some of the things their peers are thankful for during the school’s annual Thanksgiving Ceremony, held this year on Wednesday, November 25.
