The Journey Takers: An Inside Look at Immigration Research
The Journey Takers: An Inside Look at Immigration Research
On Wednesday, December 8, the Genealogy Club of Newtown will host a presentation and book signing by Leslie Albrecht Huber, the award-winning author of The Journey Takers. The program will start at 7 pm in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
Ms Huber will talk about new family history sources, new approaches to methodology, and new insights into immigrant ancestorsâ lives, using several case studies from her new book. A professional genealogist and freelance writer with a masterâs degree in Public Affairs, Ms Huber has spent the past decade tracing her family tree with visits to ancestorsâ hometowns in Germany, Sweden, and England. She has also followed in her ancestorsâ footsteps across the Oregon Trail to Utah.
The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of every month, September to June, at the town library. New members and visitors are always welcome.
The clubâs January speaker will be Ray Maki, who will discuss how to uncover the maiden names of female ancestors.
