Dodging Balls For A Good Cause
The Annual Dodgeball Charity Tournament was held at Newtown Youth Academy on November 20. Organized by Newtown High School junior Palmer Lintz, the tourney has raised approximately $1,100 for Kevinâs Community Center. A volunteer referee crew, led by Jeff Tolson and Gene Hall officiated 20 teams, each consisting of five dodgeball players. Team names ranged from Eagle Heart to Contenders in Suspenders. There was even a team sporting red jerseys and appropriately named Team Masuk, light-heartedly not a crowd favorite. All teams participated in a round-robin tournament and were seeded in a four-team playoff. Team Carminuccioâs prevailed as the champions with a win over Pup N Suds in the final round.
