YORK, PENN. â The âOriginalâ 152nd semiannual York Antiques Show & Sale is scheduled for January 30âFebruary 1, at Memorial Hall East, within the York Fairgrounds Convention and Expo Center downtown.
This popular event will feature 96 exhibitors in room settings. According to show manager Melvin L. Arion, the merchandise at York will run the full gamut, including Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century period American and English furniture, as well as country pieces in original paint, Oriental carpets, quilts, samplers, hooked rugs, other textiles, fine early porcelain, pottery, estate jewelry, Native American pottery and weavings, early kitchen and fireplace items.
Dr Patricia T. Herr will present her new book Rags to Rugs: Hooked and Hand Sewn Rugs of Pennsylvania, along with a display of some of the rugs featured in this volume. She will be available (in her booth) to autograph and personalize copies of the book.
The show has little dealer turnover but a few older exhibitors have retired, making way for a few new faces. They are: American Decorative Arts & Associates from Canaan, N.H.; Sam Forsythe, Columbus, Ohio; David Good of Camden, Ohio; Bill Houka from Celebration, Fla.; Cheryl and Paul Scott, Hillsborough, N.H.; Steve Smoot of Lancaster, Penn.; Donald and Verna Stump from Sinking Spring, Penn.; and Doug and Ty Wyant, Cassopolis, Mich.
Show hours Friday and Saturday are 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission in $10/person, $9 with this article or an ad.
