Foster Care Informational

Open House Planned

DANBURY — Family & Children’s Aid (FCA) agency, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping abused children, will hold an informational open house on Saturday, December 4, from 1 to 3 pm, at 71 West Street. The focus will be foster care.

There are children waiting right now for a caring foster parent. FCA’s new Foster Care Program is designed for children with severe emotional challenges who come from various group home or residential settings or may be at risk for being placed in one.

These children have typically been exposed to various types of trauma including physical or sexual abuse or neglect. They have a history of having difficulty in controlling their emotions and behavior.

The goal is to provide a supportive family environment that offers a child the greatest chance of success. Many of these children, with the proper support and dedicated, loving parents, can succeed in a family and deserve to have the chance.

There are many Connecticut children who have been temporarily placed in out-of-state institutional settings and need to be returned to an in-state foster care program in order to be closer to other family members. FCA’s new foster care program helps candidates become competent caretakers and offers training, financial compensation up to $27,000 per year, and support, every step of the way.

Family & Children’s Aid is a 100-year-old, award-winning agency that provides safe homes for abused children and shelters for homeless mothers and their kids. It operates a number of programs that have become models statewide. FCA has been recognized by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) for its child abuse prevention efforts. FCA is a licensed Foster Care Placement Agency.
