Downtown Seymour Merchants Introduce First Saturdays

SEYMOUR — The newly formed District of Seymour Arts and Antiques Association brings together the collective talents and expertise of volunteer merchants, city officials and professionals working together to enhance and revitalize the downtown shopping district. The membership represents the diversity of downtown: gift and specialty shops, antique stores, restaurants, professional services, the arts and theater.

The District of Seymour Arts and Antiques Association conducts monthly meetings at rotating locations within downtown. The association has a board of directors and various working committees.

Beginning this month, the first Saturday night of each month will see the streets of downtown Seymour come alive with the District of Seymour Arts & Antiques Association’s “First Saturday” from 5 to 9. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy visual arts in numerous art galleries, restaurants, and antiques and specialty shops within walking distance of each other.

Each gallery and shop will demonstrate its individuality during these themed monthly events. December’s “First Saturday” monthly event will be on December 4 as downtown Seymour kicks off the holidays and the holiday gift-giving season.

Future “First Saturday” dates and their themes are January 8, Children and the Arts; February 5, Valentine’s Day and the Art of Love; and March 5, The Room with a View Towards Art.
