Chamber And Rotary Kickoff Business Awards Program

The Newtown Chamber of Commerce joined the Newtown Rotary Club during its regular weekly meeting on Monday, November 29, at the Fireside Inn, to network and kickoff the 2004 Newtown Business of the Year Awards program.

This recognition program sponsored by both the Rotary Club and the chamber was started last year to acknowledge those companies that make considerable contributions to the Newtown community.

Nominations can be made by any individual or beneficiary, including self-nomination by employees of the businesses, using the forms located on either the Rotary (www.newtownctrotary.org) or chamber (www.newtown-ct.com) websites. They are also available from any chamber or Rotary member. Nominations close on January 31.  Nominated businesses may also propose individual employees for recognition.

There will be two categories of business awards, based on the number of employees: Companies or departments or branches of organizations with 25 or more employees and secondly, those with  fewer than 25 employees. The businesses nominated must operate and be based in Newtown.

Two winners will be announced at the formal award ceremony to be held at the Fireside Inn, South Main Street, on Monday, March 7. Award winners, in addition to receiving a trophy, will be invited to make a donation to a charity or organization of their choice, which will be matched by Newtown Rotary Club.
