Rah Rah! â Cheer Squad Advances To AYC Nationals
The Newtown Nighthawks D15 cheerleading team is heading to Orlando, Fla to compete in the American Youth Cheer National Championships, on December 10. The team placed second at the AYC Northeast Regional Championships in Worchester, Mass this past Saturday.
The town is invited to help support the girls in this amazing opportunity. Cheerleaders, friends, and family will host a variety of fundraising events during the course of the next week. Hereâs whatâs in the lineup: Efforts got going on Tuesday, November 29 in town where the girls cheerfully greeted shoppers at locations such as Ace Hardware, Nina Nails, and Salon Michele. Â
If you missed the spirited kickoff and would like to make a contribution, look for the teamâs decorated donation cans which have been placed at various businesses throughout town.
On Saturday December 3, the Newtown cheerleaders will be at Newtown Youth Academy from 8 am to 2 pm, and downtown at the Sandy Hook Tree Lighting beginning at 4 pm.
On Monday December 5, My Place will host a âSupport Newtown Cheerâ fundraiser, starting at 5 pm. My Place is generously donating 20 percent of the eveningâs business. This applies to both eat-in and takeout.
Customers are asked to mention the Nighthawks cheer team, and to thank My Place for their continued involvement in the community.
The Nighthawks are led by Head Coach Susan Bridges, assistant coaches Lori Rohrbacher and Chris Hughes, and demonstrators Meredith Bridges, Madalyn Petrovich, and Samantha Rohrbacher.
