On Thanksgiving

To the Editor:

We wanted to thank the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and the entire Newtown community for making the 2011Newtown Turkey Trot a success.

Close to 1,000 people participated in this year’s event on what was a beautiful Thanksgiving Day morning. Thanks for making us a part of your Thanksgiving Day celebration! We hope you “earned your stuffing!”

We’d like to recognize our returning sponsors — Newtown Savings Bank (title sponsor), Stratton Faxon, The Newtown Bee, the Library Board of Trustees, BMW of Watertown, Newtown Center Pediatrics, Newtown Chiropractic Health Center, the Savings Bank of Danbury and the Woodbridge Running Company — for supporting us again in 2011. We’d like to thank Hensal Realty and Club NewFit for becoming a sponsorship partner for the first time this year. Also, thank you to our food and beverage sponsors — Bagel Delight, Andrea’s Bakery, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and Poland Springs — for providing the terrific snacks and refreshments after the event.

To our volunteers, we thank all of you for your hours of commitment before, during, and after the “Trot.” We know that there are many other things that you could be doing on Thanksgiving Day morning!
