Earl Lawrence, Jr, 83, of Newtown, died peacefully November 28, in Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rose M. Lawrence. Mr Lawrence was born December 19, 1927, in Monkton, Vt., son of Helen and Earl Lawrence.
He was a US Army veteran, and in his earlier years was employed by Dolly Madison Ice Cream, later known as Baskin & Robbins, in Southbury. He was part owner of GC Lawson Farm and later employed at Marcus Dairy in Danbury, until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Ruth Ann Potter of Newtown and Terry Lynn Lawrence of Southbury; two brothers, Allen Lawrence and Arnold Lawrence, both of Southbury; two sisters, Barbara Palmer of Southbury and Dorothy Hawkins of Santee, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of the seventh floor Intensive Care Unit in Danbury Hospital for their care and compassion.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 2, from 5 to 7 pm, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. Graveside service will take place Saturday, December 3, at 11 am, in Newtown Village Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc, 38 Richards Avenue, Norwalk CT 06854-2318.
