‘Art About Town,’ A Benefit Exhibition

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown, in conjunction with Avancé Esthétiques European Skin Care & Day Spa, are planning a special art show and benefit. The exhibition will be presented at the day spa, located within Sand Hill Plaza at 228 Main Street South.

“Art About Town” will offer original work by ten artists, with a portion of each sale of artwork to benefit Ann’s Place, The Home of I Can. The collection continues a series of exhibitions launched by SCAN earlier this year, when in March the artists’s collective offered a show at Sal e Pepe Restaurant. That one, however, was a one-artist show featuring the work of the Newtown artist Virginia Zic.

Rosemary Rau and Marianne Scanlon are co-chairing the exhibition, which will feature works by Betty Christensen, Theresa Caputo, Lisa Greto, Ginger Kleinbart, MaryKaren Merrill, Ruth Newquist, Paula Renee, Susan Sagona and Pam Wilson, as well as Ms Zic. All of the works will be original and available for purchase.

A champagne reception has been scheduled for Sunday, December 11, from 2 to 5 pm; the exhibition will open that morning. The exhibition will remain on view until January 9. Visiting hours are Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 9 pm; Wednesday, 10 am to 6 pm; Friday, 9 am to 6 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

SCAN is hoping to continue its “Art About Town” series.

“We’ve been talking about moving to some different locations around town and the area,” said Ms Scanlon. The group is in talks to do its next Art About Town presentation at a restaurant in Sandy Hook, and hopes to do a show at Monroe library as well.
