Hovey Appointed To Health Care
HARTFORD â State Rep DebraLee Hovey, R-112th District, has been appointed to a group of legislators that will be working to ensure that health care agencies throughout the country are prepared to a possible bird flu pandemic and other health crises.
Rep Hovey, who represents Monroe and part of Newtown, recently was appointed as a team leader on health care for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). NFWLâs health care program team leaders will be working with state health departments and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a nationwide effort to educate the public on how to prepare for, and get through, a flu pandemic.
Residents seeking more information on the avian flu virus and preparations they can take to help prevent infection should visit www.pandemicflu.gov or the Center for Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov/flu/avian. Additional information can be found in the Presidentâs National Strategy for Pandemic Illness, which can be read at www.whitehouse.gov/homeland/pandemic-influenza.html.
The NFWL is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that does not take positions on public policy issues but serves as a forum that helps empower women legislators through information and experience.
