‘Child’s Christmas’ Will Be A Special Gift By Town Players  Next Weekend

A very special treat is being prepared for all theatre lovers at the Town Players’ Little Theatre on Orchard Hill Road in Newtown. Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas In Wales, a rich confection of the author’s memories of childhood Christmases spent in his native country, will be presented by an ensemble of 20 players the weekend before Christmas. Thomas’ extraordinary gift for language has made this piece a classic.

The show features Damien Langan of Bridgeport as the narrator, with his son, Kyle Langan, playing the young Thomas. The supporting cast of actors and singers consists of many Town Players regulars from surrounding towns, among them brothers Steve and Patrick Kennedy of Monroe, Erik Jurman and Amanda Sweat of Newtown, and Donny Gies of Sandy Hook, all of whom will be featured as children from Thomas’ past.

The play is being directed by Mary Poile of Ridgefield, and produced by Evelyne Thomas of Newtown. Laura Evans, formerly of Sandy Hook, will direct the music for the show.

A Child’s Christmas In Wales will be presented at The Little Theatre, Orchard Hill Road (off Route 25) in Newtown, for five performances only. Three evening performances will be presented at 8 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 17-19. Matinees will be offered at 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

For reservations, call 270-9144. Tickets are $10 for adults, or $5 for age 12 and under.
