The Newtown seventh-grade travel basketball team opened the 2006-07 season recently with a 45-44 win over Brookfield.

Dan Gallagher canned a layup with 10 seconds left to lift the locals to the win. Kyle Wilcox popped in 15 points while Taylor Steimle and Trey Trudell dropped in eight points apiece.
