Thankful For Thanksgiving Traditions
To the Editor:
Newtown is filled with traditions and the C.H. Booth Library is thankful for all the runners and walkers at its 14th Annual Turkey Trot! This year we had 1,540 participants coming together with family, and friends to work up a good appetite for their Thanksgiving meal (and perhaps an extra piece of pie!).
I want to thank the C.H. Booth Library Board of Trustees and our Library’s Strategic Project Manager, Jordana Bloom, who are all key players in organizing the Trot and making it the success that it is!
I would also like to thank additional volunteers who helped the Library with the Turkey Trot:
Newtown Hook & Ladder Co and their three firefighters that came out very early on Thanksgiving morning to display our beautiful American Flag at the start line (Firefighters Brian Manna, Sean Reilly and Joe Corbo).
Newtown Savings Bank and their wonderful employees who not only come out to volunteer in the early morning hours to set up for the race but also two days before to help us with registration.
Bill Glass for capturing pictures of our race participants, who were adorned in various turkey hats, costumes, and much more!
Ingersoll Auto and Gabe Vieira who drove the pace car.
Thank you to Alison Plante for putting on our Rooster Costume and putting a smile on our faces!
Thank you to Dan Rosenthal, for giving us one more kick-off speech at the start of the race, we will miss you and are thankful for all you have done for Newtown!
Newtown CT Rotary Cub, for providing water to our participants.
BD Provisions for providing our yummy trophy buckets!
Newtown is truly filled with special people who know the meaning and value of community. I look forward to next year’s Turkey Trot and even more walkers and runners participating!
