Newtown Rotary Club’s Pancake Breakfast will return for an in-person gathering this year.

Organizers recently announced the club’s 61st anniversary event is planned for Saturday, December 4, from 8 am until noon. The longstanding tradition will return to the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.

Much celebrated, the event brings families across Newtown together to share friendship and tidings, while eating some of the best homemade pancakes the town has to offer.

Guests will again enjoy entertainment with planned dance performances by students of Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet and Voice and Lathrop School of Dance, and a visit from Santa Claus.

It is not only the fellowship and nourishment that makes the event special, according to the local Rotary Club. Every dollar raised goes on to support the needs of this community. Through fundraisers like this, Newtown Rotary Club supports Newtown Scholarship Association, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, C.H. Booth Library, Newtown Youth & Family Services, Dorothy Day Hospitality House, The Women’s Shelter of Danbury, Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, and many others.

As part of the local club’s international service, members also work to raise money to help fund lifesaving heart operations for children with congenital heart disease in developing countries through the Rotary Gift of Life International and under its own “Newtown Gift of Life Challenge.” Funds raised by the club have helped save the lives of well over 200 children.

Tickets for the all-you-can-eat event are $10 for adults, and $5 for children. The menu includes homemade pancakes, sausages from Butcher’s Best, award-winning maple syrup from Maple Craft Foods, and fresh roasted coffee from BD Provisions, along with milk, juices, and hot chocolate.

Visit NewtownCTRotary.org for additional information and advance tickets. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Newtown Rotary Pancake Breakfast Chair Mark Skerik reminds readers that the 61st annual fundraiser by the local Rotary chapter is returning to its traditional location this year. It will also be an in-person event, including live entertainment and a seasonal special guest. —Bee Photo, Hicks
