‘Tis The Season’ To Celebrate With Music & Dancing

NEW MILFORD — TheaterConnection, a performance company for youth, will present “Tis The Season... a show to celebrate the holidays” on Saturday, December 1, at 2 and 6 pm, and Sunday, December 2, at 2 pm. The shows will be at New Milford High School, 388 Danbury Road (Route 7).

The show is in the tradition as The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show. Jen Turey, the owner of Dance Etc of Newtown and a partner in TheaterConnection, is a former Rockette and one of the choreographers of the show. She will bring “March of the Wooden Soldiers” and two great tap kick lines, “‘Rockin Around the Christmas Tree” and “Jingle Bells,” to the show.

Jill Gorrie, a performer, choreographer and New York City-based dance instructor, choreographed the lyrical finale, “Silent Night.”

Many area studios are participating in this community event including Newtown Music School, New Centre for the Arts in Brookfield, Brookfield School of Performing Arts, FineLine Theatre in New Milford, Gymnastics Revolution in Danbury, Grey’s School of Irish Dance, and Angel Thorn Music Studio in Bethel.  All of these studios are providing  talent, choreography, and instruction for the show. The ages of the cast run from 3 through 25.

Rudolph, Frosty and Santa will make an appearance (and performance) at each show along with many wonderful vocalists. There is a also a Nutcracker medley which was choreographed by Deanne Petriccione of Brookfield School of Performing Arts, along with a Sugar Plum point performed by Tiffany Billings of New Milford and choreographed by Elizabeth Parkinson of FineLine Theater Arts of New Milford.

Of the 120 students in the show, more than 40 of those cast members are from Newtown: Katie Aiello, Rosie Baron, Julia Bell, Grace Bianco, Amanda Bradbury, Bridget Buechelmaier, Nikki Connolly, Elisandra Daigle, Catherine DeMaria, Michaela Guinee, Michele Haitz, Michaela Hall, Kaitlyn Higgins, Gretchen Hoffman, Amanda Johnson, Chloe Kaalman, Ally LaDestro, Mareena Mallory, Jacqueline Mooney, Lyndsay Merrifield, Megan O’Brien, Katlyn Pierce, Heidi Poarch, Sara Potter, Meghan Powers, Alyssa Ross, Ashley Russo, Lauren Russo, Marisa Russo, Annalise Saranceni, Lucy Scarangella, Julie Schettler, Madison Schettler, Molly Schettler, Martha Seaver,  Emma Sheridan, Maggie Sheridan, Emma Short, Olivia Shull, Samantha Sousa, Michael Spanedda, Michele Spanedda, Charlotte Stenz, Joanne Szaley, Hannah Tamborino, Megan Weber, and Stephanie Weigler.
