State Police Report Inmate Incidents
At Garner Prison
State police report three recent inmate incidents at Garner Correctional Institution, the stateâs high-security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.
On the night of November 21, inmate Darzall Weinstein, 19, allegedly threw a ball of toilet paper that was filled with feces at a correction officer, state police said. The correction officer was not injured.
State police said they are investigating the incident in terms of pressing charges against Weinstein.
Weinstein is an unsentenced inmate who is being held at Garner on a pending murder charge.
Also, on the morning of November 17, inmate Willie Bryant, 35, assaulted a correction officer causing a minor cut to the officerâs cheek, state police said. Another correction officer received a minor injury while assisting in restraining Bryant, state police said.
State police charged Bryant with assault on a peace officer and with interfering with an officer. Bryant was scheduled to be arraigned in court on November 19.
Bryant is serving an almost 18-year sentence in Garner on a first-degree assault conviction.
Also, state police said inmate Brandon Charette, 21, used his fists to attack a correction officer on November 14. The correction officer was injured, according to state police.
State police charged Charette with assault on a correction officer. Charette was scheduled for a November 15 court arraignment.
Charette is serving a 12-year sentence on a first-degree robbery conviction.
