Long Wharf To Host Non-Equity Auditions For New Play

NEW HAVEN — Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joan Channick, invites local actors ages 18-30 to audition for Phenomenon of Decline, a new play by Joe Tracz. This will be a Non-Equity production directed by Tyler Greene, a resident in Long Wharf Theatre’s Next Stage Program.

Auditions will be Friday, December 14, and Saturday, December 15, from 7:30 to 10:30 pm. Each audition will be ten minutes.  Callbacks will be Monday, December 17, from 7:30 to 11 pm.

Performance dates will be Friday, April 25, at 8 pm; and Saturday, April 26, at 3 and 8 pm; with a possible performance on Sunday, April 27, at 2 pm.

All actors should bring a current resume and headshot. While walk-ins will be accommodated, appointments are strongly recommended and may be by calling Meghan Kane at 203-787-4284 (extension 299) between 10 am and 5 pm, or sending e-mail to her at Meghan.Kane@LongWharf.org. Monologues are not required, however sides will be provided upon request.

In this new show, Randolph Wonder lives in a bog in a vigil of grief and guilt, in a ramshackle cabin he built by hand, 15 years after his twin brother went into the bog to retrieve a fly ball and never returned. As his home starts sinking into the earth and his three sisters arrive with three different agendas, Randolph must choose between seeking the dead and returning to life.

Character breakdowns are as follows: Randolph Wonder, a grief stricken writer in his late 20s; Misty Wonder, one of the sisters, age 18-22, a student, creative spirit with a lost and conflicted soul; Lenora Wonder, another sister, in her mid 20s, bitter, quick-witted, hard-edged and opinionated; Olivia Wonder, the third sister, in her early 30s, kind-hearted, parental/mother figure, a psychologist; and Autumn, who is in her early 20s, nature-loving, finds beauty in the scientific, a breath of fresh air.

The theater is at 222 Sargent Drive. Visit LongWharf.org for additional information.
