Ellen C. Andersen

Fairfield Hills Hospital Research Statistician

Ellen C. (Sudik) Andersen, 67, of Sandy Hook died November 21 in Danbury Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of D. Edward Andersen. Mrs Andersen was born in Miami, Fla., on December 5, 1939, a daughter of Ralph Petersen and Eleanor (Van Buren) Sudik.

She graduated in 1958 from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield and in 1962 received a bachelor of science in gerontology from the University of Bridgeport. Until her retirement, Mrs Andersen worked at Fairfield Hills Hospital in the psychology department as a research statistician.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Erik E. and Kirk A. Andersen, both of Sandy Hook; a brother, Walter A. Sudik and his wife, Nancy, of Bethel; two sisters, Sharon M. Massafra and her husband, Robert, of Fairfield and Kimberly A. Whittaker and her husband, John, of Ashland, Maine. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, Frank Dawid, Jeniferlyn Hatstat, Wally Sudik, Katherine Cole, Michael Sudik, Aimee Beltran, and Nick Gimbel; and five great-nieces; one great nephew; and her mother-in-law, Helen Anna Andersen of New Paltz, N.Y.

Mrs Andersen was predeceased by her stepfather, Walter A. Sudik, II.

Funeral services were held November 26 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 16 Saw Mill Road, with Bishop David Oakes officiating. Interment was in Zoar Cemetery.

Arrangements were in care of Honan Funeral Home, Newtown.
