Erica Forde of Sandy Hook has begun her first year at Mount Holyoke College, the oldest institution of higher learning for women in the United States. The class of 2003 numbers 554 students from 45 states and 35 countries. Erica is the daughter of David and Janet Forde of Sandy Hook; she is a graduate of Nonnewaug High School. She was involved with horseback riding and volunteered at Danbury Hospital. A member of the National Honor Society, she was named to Whoâs Who Among American High School Seniors.
Amanda Wildman
Newtown resident Amanda Wildman was named a 1999 recipient of the Hermann Meyer Veterinary Anatomy Scholarship Award at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. This $1,000 scholarship is presented to a veterinary student who has shown interest and excellent performance in veterinary anatomy during his/her first year of study and who has demonstrated financial need. She is active in several student organizations including secretary and veterinary medicine senator of OSUâs Interprofessional Council. Amanda has a particular interest in veterinary ethics, small animal surgery, and emergency and critical care.
Elizabeth Bishop, daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Bishop, has received honors at the close of the first marking period at St Joseph High School.
Jennifer Jones and Sue Kim of Sandy Hook were named to the honor roll for the first quarter at Lauralton Hallâs Academy of Our Lady of Mercy in Milford, a girlâs Catholic preparatory school. Jennifer is a senior at the school, and Sue is a junior.
