New Interim Pastor

Noted author, editor, and pastor Dr Norm De Jong is serving as interim pastor of Community Presbyterian Church in Newtown.

Dr De Jong has served in the pastorate for ten years and has also edited and written books on discipline, education, and teaching. One of the books he authored, The Philosophy of Education: A Christian Approach, will be used by Australian educators as a model for Christian schools. Dr De John is currently at work on a book about God’s covenantal relationship.

Dr De Jong received his PhD in educational foundations from the University of Iowa. He taught high school in Minnesota, served as a principal in Christian schools in Montana and Michigan, and was an associate professor at Dordt College in Iowa. His other teaching credits include school systems in Canada, Cyprus, and South Africa.

Dr De Jong serves in various capacities for Mid-American Reformed Seminary and Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Community Presbyterian Church meets every Sunday, morning and evening, at the Newtown Meeting House by the flagpole on Main Street. Weekly and monthly studies and fellowship opportunities are also available. For more information, contact 270-3730.
