Hovey Establishes Newtown 112th District Advisory Group
State Representative DebraLee Hovey has established an advisory group composed of five 112th Assembly District residents from Newtown.
âAlthough I work closely with state Representative Julia B. Wasserman (R-106) and with Newtownâs local elected officials to ensure that I am well-informed about local issues, I also wanted to hear from citizens who are closely involved in their community and who know their townâs most pressing needs from personal experience,â said Rep Hovey (R-112).
âThere is no substitute for regular conversations among friends to get a feel for what issues are most important to them. That is why I asked five people from the section of Newtown that I represent to serve on an advisory group to help keep me up to date on local issues,â Rep. Hovey said.
âThe 112th District includes all of Monroe and about 2,000 Newtown residents ââ but everyone who lives within its boundaries are my constituents and I want to make sure that I represent all of them to the best of my ability in Hartford,â Rep Hovey said. âMy Newtown advisors are a diverse group who come from all walks of life. They will ensure that no issue of importance to the town that has to be resolved at the state level will be overlooked.â
The members of Rep Hoveyâs Newtown advisory group are: Jeff Capeci, a computer software professional; Chuck Newman of Plantersâ Choice, a businessman; Marie Smith, a homemaker and community volunteer; Frank Catalano, a student and an aspiring police officer; and Alice Holmes, a realtor.
