The Unique Art of Paula Renee
The Unique Art of Paula Renee
ROXBURY â An opening reception on Saturday, December 9, from 1 to 3 pm, at Minor Memorial Library will unveil an exhibit and sale of paintings by Danbury artist Paula Renee which will continue until January 17, 2001, during regular library hours.
Ms Reneeâs unique style of work, which includes loom-woven oils on canvas, has been exhibited in galleries throughout the USA, and is part of public and corporate permanent collections around the world including Mary Tyler Moore, University Club (Durham, N.C.), National Institute of Design (India), Tobu Hotel (Japan), IBM (Princeton, N.J.) and hundreds of others.
Trained in painting and sculpture, Paula Renee became interested in tapestry weaving. Her unique woven paintings reflect her studies of ancient Peruvian weaving and her travels through France, the Berber villages or Morocco, Mexico, Brazil and the Hudson River when she lived in Nyack, N.Y. The variation of her depiction of trees are especially in evidence in much of her work.
