Jillian Rita Saren To Peter Daniel Gehrkens

Richard and Dru Saren of Southbury announce the engagement of their daughter, Jillian Rita Saren, to Peter Daniel Gehrkens, son of Glen and Patricia Gehrkens of Southbury.

She is the granddaughter of Andrew and Rita Willie of Newtown and Helen Saren of Sandy Hook and the late William Saren.

The future bride graduated from Pomperaug High School in 1996 and Central Connecticut State University in May with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is pursuing a master’s in school counseling at Western Connecticut State University. She is employed as an ABA therapist at Hawley School by the Newtown Board of Education.

The future groom graduated from Pomperaug High School in 1993 and Central Connecticut State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology. He is pursuing a master’s in engineering science at Rensselaer Polytech Institute. He served as a technical engineering specialist for eight years in the Connecticut Army National Guard. He is an engineer with Pratt and Whitney.

A September 2002 wedding is planned.
