Dorothy Farrell

Dorothy G. Farrell, 76, of Newtown, died on November 25 at Mediplex of Danbury. She was the wife of John J. Farrell, Sr.

Mrs Farrell was born May 7, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Walter F. and Lucy (Hittel) LeMaire. She grew up in Queens, N.Y., and attended schools there.

In her younger years, Mrs Farrell was very active in women’s baseball, playing with the Arthur Murray Girls ball team, playing in tournaments throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

A resident of Connecticut since 1967, residing in Georgetown prior to moving to Newtown, she was a member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, Mrs Farrell is survived by two sons, Patrick M. Farrell of Bethel, and John J. Farrell, Jr, of Newtown; one sister, Grace Turcotte of Coram, L.I.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held November 29 from the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, to the Church of St Mary, Bethel, for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial was in the Long Island National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island.
