The Newtown High School World Language Department has announced a need for host families for NHS Chinese guest teacher Amanda Zhang.

Ms Zhang will need a new host family starting January 1, according to NHS World Language Department Chair Paula Greenfield.

Ms Zhang shared a brief description of herself that includes she has been married for eight years and has a 6-year-old daughter. She enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and traveling. She has been teaching for 11 years.

Ms Zhang also said she hopes her new host family will be able to provide her with transportation to work and to the grocery store, or live near a school bus that she can take to work. She also said she has enjoyed her time with her current host family.

Ms Zhang has a master’s in education and a certificate in English proficiency, according to Ms Greenfield.

Host families receive a stipend of $150 a month to supplement spending on food. Host families are expected to provide room and board.
