Colorist Carol Reeves Next Artist For SCAN Program

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host an oil painting demonstration by Carol Reeves on Wednesday, December 1, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a landscape.

The program is open to the public, free of charge, and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (t the flagpole) in Newtown.

Carol Reeves divides her time between Maine and Connecticut. This provides her with plein-air painting opportunities. Her travels also allow her to paint on location throughout the United States and Europe. Working in both oils and pastels her painterly approach using lively brush strokes and bold color have earned her the title of “colorist.”

Ms Reeves received her formal education from Lyme Academy of Fine Arts as well as studying with many master painters across the US. Her work has been exhibited nationally and earned her many prestigious awards.

She serves on the executive board of The CT Pastel Society, of which she is also a signature member. She is also a member of the American Society of Portrait Painters, American Academy of Women Artists, The International Society of Pastel Painters, and a juried member of The International Society of Artists, based in Sweden.

Her work was juried into the 2003 Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy. It has also been accepted in many national shows and solo exhibitions, and she has won a number of honors for her talents.
