Concordia Chorale Ready For Its Debut
NEW MILFORD âThe Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts will present the debut performance of the Concordia Chorale at St Johnâs Episcopal Church, on the green in New Milford, on Saturday, December 4, at 4 pm. The program will include the Christmas portion and Hallelujah! chorus of Handelâs Messiah as well as some Christmas carols.
The Concordia Chorale was established in September by the Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts and is partially underwritten by a grant from The Waterbury Foundation. The chorale is a multi-generational community chorus, the first of its kind in New Milford. Members of the choir range in age from 14 to seniors and come from several communities.
Chorale director Mahlon Peterson is director of St Paulâs Episcopal Church in Woodbury and has conducted several choirs in the region including Westport Madrigal Choir and Norwalk Community Chorus. The choir will be joined by four professional soloists: soprano Stephanie Jensen-Moulton and her husband, baritone Albert Jensen-Moulton; tenor Jim Russell; and alto Bonnie Forgacs.
Tickets are $5 if reserved in advance or $7 at the door. Call 860/354-2978 for reservations.
