The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library’s popular Holiday Sale is scheduled to return Saturday and Sunday, December 2-3, to the lower meeting room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Sale hours are 9:30 am-5 pm on Saturday and 11 am-5 pm on Sunday.

A long-time feature of Newtown’s early December holiday celebration, the 2023 Holiday Sale will once again offer shoppers a “huge selection of holiday and gift items, all reasonably priced, for everyone on shoppers’ gift lists,” says Holiday Sale Chair Marge Gingolaski.

The Friends will be selling thousands of new and like-new gift-quality books for all ages, jigsaw puzzles, games, stocking-stuffers, media and other gift items.

“We also will have a nice selection of jewelry that includes a pair of garnet and sterling silver earrings, a new boxed sterling silver necklace with mother of pearl, and many other items,” Gingolaski says, adding that all the jewelry has been valued by Michael’s Jewelry Store.

All of the books are in excellent condition and arranged for easy browsing. Adult non-fiction ranges from art, cooking and crafts to history, biography, the natural world, and everything in between.

All fiction genres are represented, especially mystery, thriller and fiction.

“Whether board books, pristine picture books, easy-to-read fiction and non-fiction, or books for established readers, we have something to delight all the young people on your list,” shares Friends volunteer Denise Kaiser. “We know it can be hard to find just the right book for the older kids, so be sure to ask one of our knowledgeable volunteers for assistance.”

Shoppers will also find many beautiful books that convey the joy of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

Those who are unable to visit the two-day sale will be able to shop for holiday items at the Friends’ Little Book Store, located on the main floor of the C.H. Booth Library, in the weeks leading up to the New Year. Gingolaski advises that jewelry items will only be available on December 2-3, however.

Holiday Sale shoppers can pay by cash, check, or credit card. All proceeds from the sale benefit C.H. Booth library.
