John Manville of the town Public Works Department strung strands of lights on the town's Christmas tree at the Ram Pasture on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 23, amid cold blustery conditions.

The 32nd Annual Newtown Tree Lighting ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Friday, December 2, near the intersection of Elm Drive and Hawley Road.

Live music will start at 6:30 pm, with the tree lighting slated for 7 pm. Caroling, refreshments, and visits with Mr and Mrs Santa Claus will follow.
