Emma A. Rohde

Emma A. Rohde, 87, of Newtown died November 22 at her home, following a long illness. She was born in Washington, Penn., August 2, 1927, a daughter of the late Katherine (Albert) and James Kaskan, and grew up in Brownsville, Penn.

She met her husband, Vernon Carl Rohde, while working as a nurse in the Emergency Department of George Washington Hospital, Washington, DC. In 1972, the Rohdes moved to Newtown with their family. Mrs Rohde was a nurse at Fairfield Hills Hospital until her retirement.

She was an active parishioner at St Rose of Lima Church, and was a special minister of the Eucharist for many years.

A son, Vernon Carl Rohde II of Newtown; and four grandchildren, Vernon Carl Rohde III, Sara E. Rohde, Lilli I. Rohde, and Benjamin K. March, survive Mrs Rohde. Her husband predeceased her.

Friends may call Friday, November 28, from 5 to 7 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Saturday, November 29, at 10 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
