Papers Settled Plagiarism Suit
HARTFORD (AP) â The Journal Inquirer and Hartford Courant have settled a lawsuit that accused the Courant of plagiarizing the Journalâs local news stories.
The settlement was entered in US District Court in Hartford on Thursday. Its terms werenât disclosed.
In 2009, the Courant apologized for unintentionally plagiarizing competitors, including the Manchester-based Inquirer.
The Inquirer said the Courant summarized or rewrote their stories without permission as part of its âaggregationâ policy, and later printed some stories without attribution.
In court papers seeking to dismiss the $7.5 million suit, the Courant argued there was no copyright infringement.
