Many Helped ‘Light The Night’

To the Editor:

Newtown’s third Light the Night Walk was a huge success. The night was cool and the sunset was fantastic. This fundraiser is part of a nationwide event of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise funds and awareness about blood cancers.

We passed our goal! Thanks to all the people at the Newtown Youth Academy for their help, especially Ron “Coach” Frangione. A special thanks to Gregg Simon and Jay Edwards at Newtown High School for their ideas and support.

The Newtown Deli supplied the walkers with tasty food once again. The One-Eyed Pig was selling delicious pulled pork sandwiches. Thanks to People’s United Bank, Union Savings Bank, and Newtown Savings Bank for their donations. PJ’s Laundromat of Sandy Hook, Associated Refuse Haulers, Red Baron Carpets, Carminuccio’s Pizza, Newtown Rotary, Sippin Energy Products, Women Involved in Newtown (WIN), and Quota International of Candlewood Valley for their continued support and donations.

Team pictures were taken by Marleen and Bill Cafarelli of Photo Art Works Productions. The Bounce House was donated by New England Bounce About in Brookfield. These businesses have been donating their time and products since the Newtown Walks began. The Newtown Bee helped our walk get started and succeed. Thank you for all your help and support. We couldn’t have been as successful without you.

We couldn’t do this without all our friends and family that volunteer to help us make the night go so smoothly. A very special thank you to all of those who fundraised, donated and/or walked to help us beat our goal!

See you next fall.

Sincerely,

Ginny Chion and Colette Ercole
