Two Free Talks
Newtowner Dr Shawn Carney, a naturopathic physician and founder of Northeast Natural Medicine, LLC at 33 Main Street, is presenting two free upcoming health lectures.
On Wednesday, November 30, from 10 to 11 am, he will speak on the topic âLowering Cholesterol and Triglycerides Naturally,â at Chamomille Natural Foods, Route 6 Plaza, 58 Newtown Road in Danbury.
According to Dr Carney, the most commonly prescribed drug in the United States is a statin medication prescribed to lower high lipid levels. Unfortunately, these types of medications can have serious side effects. Dr Carney will discuss science-based natural methods to lower cholesterol and triglycerides to acceptable levels.
He will also address the influence of glycemic index and insulin levels on blood lipids.
No registration is required, but attendees are asked to bring their own seat or chair. Call Chamomille Natural Foods for details at 203-792-8952.
Then, on the evening of November 30 from 5 to 6, Dr Carney will lecture on âImproving Your Mood with Natural Medicineâ at FoodWorks, 477 Main Street, Monroe.
An estimated 15 percent of people will experience depression at some point in their lives, and Dr Carney will review how dietary and lifestyle changes can improve mood and discuss the scientific research supporting the use of herbal therapies or nutritional supplements for patients with mild to moderate depression.
No registration is required; call FoodWorks 203-452-9500 for more information.
