Football Team Battles In SWC Title Game
Newtown High Schoolâs football team was scheduled to host Masuk of Monroe in the South-West Conference championship game at Blue & Gold Stadium on Wednesday (after The Bee went to press).
The game, originally slated to be played on Masukâs grass field, was moved to the turf at Blue & Gold this week because of the forecast of rain.
This marks the second year in a row the teams met in the conference title game. The annual clash, originally scheduled as the regular season finale, is again changed to the championship game since the two teams finished with the top two spots in the conference.
Masuk is unbeaten with a record of 9-0 and Newtown marched into the game boasting an 8-1 mark this campaign.
Masuk defeated NHS in last yearâs SWC finale.
