NEW YORK SLAB TABLE BRINGS $92,000 AT POOK & POOK

DOWNINGTON, PENN. — The Van Rensselaer New York slab table brought a premium price at Pook & Pook this past Saturday, November 23, selling at $92,000, including premium. The table was cataloged as a rare circa 1770 Chippendale marble-top table with a serpentine edged white marble top overhanging a conforming frame with bold cabriole legs and terminating in well defined ball and claw feet. The table measured 28 inches high and 47 inches wide. A complete review will appear in a future issue.

$49,500: BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED

VINELAND, N.J. — The rarest of the “Gang of Five” robots, Machine Man, achieved an impressive price this past Saturday, November 23, at Bertoia Auctions, realizing $49,500, including premium. The rare robot retained the original box, which was said by the auction gallery to be one of only two boxes known to exist. Another of the top lots was the girl skipping rope mechanical bank that sold for $38,500. A complete review will appear in a future issue.
