LANCASTER, PENN. â The Heritage Center Museum of Lancaster County and Jim Burk Antiques Shows will present the 2003 Lancaster Heritage Antiques Show at the Field House, Franklin and Marshall College.
The show will open at 6:30 pm on Friday evening, January 10 with its traditional gala preview. Tickets are $45 per person for the preview. General show hours will be on Saturday, January 11, 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday, January 12, noon to 5 pm. Admission on both days is $6 per person.
In addition to the show, there will be several new programs for 2003 show. âHot ânâ Not: Trends in Folk Artâ is a one-hour lecture presented by nationally recognized scholar and Antiques Roadshow appraiser Susan D. Kleckner of New York. This program will look at current trends in folk art collecting as well as offering a perspective on new topics for the future. The lecture will take place at 2 pm on Saturday.
âFrom Wetzel to Now: Collectors and Collectingâ examines the 1980 sale of the Helen Janssen Wetzel estate near Reading, Penn. This sale is generally regarded as the rebirth of the current Pennsylvania German folk art collecting phenomena. Susan Kleckner will lead a round table discussion including collectors, dealers and auctioneers on the subsequent changes and trends in the Pennsylvania German folk art and antiques marketplace beginning at 2 pm Sunday.
The ticket price for each lecture is $15, plus show admission. If purchasing tickets for both lectures, the price is $25 per person. Reservations are suggested.
âBeautiful Creationsâ will be a special loan exhibition of flowering orchids from the collection of John and Carol Pyfer of Lancaster. This exhibit will integrate orchids into the showâs annual ornamental plant display. No additional admission fee for this loan exhibit.
